My bungalow was great. I did not need an alarm clock, the Baboons saw to that. Fantastc staff, could not do enough for you. Really nice people as are most Zimbabweaens. I spent 4 weeks at Geko and whilst the power did go off you have to accept that Zimbabwe does have its issues. Even when the power did go off, the hospitalitly continued by candlelight until the Genny kicked in. Food was great and they bent over backwards to obtain even the most obscure items to make your stay great.
My wife stayed here for one week in Jan. 2010 on a business trip to Harare. This is a small inn, about 5 bungalows, scattered around a large pleasant garden. Though the employees try, service is not very good. Without notice to her, the restaurant was closed one evening when my wife had asked two business associates to meet her there. Electricity was sort of hit or miss but was always turned off at midnight, inside, outside, everywhere, very dark. Her bungalow was a bit of a distance from the office and the telephone in the room never worked, made her feel a bit isolated. Internet was also hit or miss, unreliable. Breakfast was never ready on schedule. The Gecko Garden is quite a distance from the city center so not convenient for going to other restaurants or internet shops. Employees were pleasant but seemed very inexperienced.…
