Mixing contemporary Japanese handcraft, handpicked artisans and producers and a Swedish interior dating back to 1912, The Fenix Palace was a celebration of good collaborations in an unusual setting. The building where the exhibition was held is the work of architect Hjalmar Westerlund and originally housed a number of well-known restaurants, a dance hall, a theatre and a bowling alley. Since 1940 it has been owned by the City church, and its premises are rarely open to the public.

The Fenix Palace is the second collaboration between the bookazine My Residence and the Japanese producer Ariake, following last year's success with the exhibition 'A quiet reflection', where visitors were invited to a private residence in central Stockholm.'We want to showcase good quality handcraft, small producers and local artisans and makers in an interesting environment; the space play a vital role in how you approach and experience the furniture and art pieces', says Hanna Nova Beatrice, editor-in-chief of My Residence and curator of the exhibition.
