Brasserie 292 combines the old-world charm of Poughkeepsie's historic Main Street district with a timeless, classic Brasserie fare. Diners can choose from a menu that boasts an impressive range of selections, from our Raw Bar to the Plat Du Jour, and includes a diverse wine and beer list. Once a popular garment destination, our inviting dining room has been transformed into a spacious haven that can accommodate over 80 people. We have a simple philosophy at Brasserie 292: use fine, local ingredients coupled with traditional cookery to create an incomparable and exceptional dining experience.

A native of the Hudson Valley Chef Charles Fells worked in a number of restaurant kitchens. In 1985 Charles joined the US Army where he advanced quickly in many disciplines and garnered many awards for service. In 1997 Charles began his career in the hospitality industry as Regional Food and Beverage director for two major hotel chains. After a short time, Charles realized that there was something missing and returned to the kitchen. In 2006 Chef Fells opened The Artist’s Palate restaurant in a former clothing store (in which as a child his Boy Scout uniform was purchased). Shortly thereafter, Chef Fells opened CANVAS, a private catering venue, and in 2015 acquired Brasserie 292.
When not in one of his Restaurants, Charles enjoys time with his son David, daughter Oliva, and attempts to play golf at every opportunity.
